New TOTO Neorest Models
When TOTO announced in June of 2023 that many of its most popular models were getting upgrades, the Neorest NX1 was among those mentioned. While not being replaced and renamed like the Neorest 700H, Neorest AH and Neorest RH, the TOTO NX1 will still technically be a new model with a new SKU.
That number we keep putting in front of the TOTO Neorest NX1 product title - MS902CUMFG#01 - is the new SKU. Just FYI.

What’s Different About the New TOTO Neorest NX1?
There are three main ways the new NX1 differs:
- More ACTILIGHT
- More EWATER
- Price
We’ll explain what each of these features are in more detail and how they’re featured differently with the new TOTO Neorest NX models.
EWATER - What is it?
EWATER is what TOTO calls electrolyzed water. Electrolyzed water has a lower PH and is able to clean naturally without the use of harsh chemicals or mechanical action.
EWATER is used to clean the bowl and wand on all previous Neorest models. With the new TOTO Neorest NX1, this EWATER will also be used to rinse underneath the seat as well.
This is an upgrade that's also featured on other new Neorest models, including:
ACTILIGHT
Another new feature of the upgraded TOTO Neorest NX line is the addition of ACTILIGHT under the seat. It should be noted that ACTILIGHT is only available on the TOTO Neorest NX2, pictured below.
The Neorest NX2 is identical to the Neorest NX1, except for this additional ACTILIGHT feature. A thorough TOTO Neorest NX2 review isn't really necessary then, as that’s the only difference.
So what the heck is ACTILIGHT?
ACTILIGHT Explained
ACTILIGHT is an amazing technology from TOTO that automates the cleaning process and allows for the Neorest to basically clean itself.
ACTILIGHT works by using a zirconium coating that’s baked onto the bowl, along with ultraviolet light and EWATER.
The special zirconium coating is hydrophilic (meaning water won’t cling), very durable and doesn’t allow for any waste particulates to cling to the bowl. This coating is automatically washed with EWATER and then interacts with UV light.
This interplay of elements destroys anything that would possibly populate in the toilet bowl.
Pretty neat huh?
Price
So now we get to price. While we’re talking about ACTILIGHT, we should mention that while it’s a very amazingly advanced feature, you’re going to pay quite a premium for it.
The TOTO Neorest NX2 price is nearly double that of the TOTO NX1. For the most up to date Neorest NX1 price, click here.
For the difference in price between the older model and newer model of NX1, you’re looking at a difference in price of only about $100. Not very much when you’re considering spending thousands of dollars on the best bidet toilet money can buy.
