TOTO Neorest 700H Review 2024 - What You Need to Know

TOTO Neorest 700H Review

The TOTO Neorest 700H was first launched back in 2013 and has since cultivated a loyal following. Its unique combination of features, design and price has made it one of the most popular in the line of Neorest smart bidet toilets.

TOTO Neorest 700H

There are eight other TOTO Neorest models on the market today. In addition to those, there are many other smart bidet toilets from other manufacturers to choose from. In light of this, we thought we would help you to decide whether or not this popular integrated bidet toilet is right for you.

So, without further ado, here is our official TOTO Neorest 700H review.

TOTO Neorest 700H Discontinued?

We've had to make an update to this article as there's been some recent developments in camp TOTO. Back in June of 2023, TOTO sent a press release stating that the Neorest 700H (among others) was being discontinued and replaced by a new, updated model.

The Neorest 700H is being replaced by the TOTO Neorest LS. Sales of the TOTO 700H will continue while supplies last but will not continue to be manufactured going forward.

Want to learn more about the differences between the TOTO Neorest 700H and the new Neorest LS? You can read all about it in our article dedicated to that here

At first glance, the TOTO LS has an updated design but seems to have most of the same cleaning features.

You can see the updated Neorest LS design in the picture below:

Here are the TOTO Neorest LS specs so you can see them for yourself.

New TOTO Neorest Models

While we're talking about TOTO Neorests being discontinued, we should probably mention that both the Neorest RH and Neorest AH are being discontinued and replaced as well.

The Neorest RH will become the Neorest RS and the Neorest AH is being replaced by the Neorest AS

Premier Bidets has all of the new Neorest models available and we're already shipping orders for these as well.

Now that we have that out of the way, we can move on with our TOTO Neorest 700H review. Since the two models share most of the same cleaning and convenience features, we promise this article will still be very helpful!

Difference Between TOTO Washlet and Neorest

We'll start by distinguishing between a Washlet and a Neorest toilet. The TOTO Washlet is simply what TOTO calls an electric bidet seat. The product is ubiquitous in Japan, popularized by the Japanese company that invented them.

toto washlet s7a

The Washlet brand name has become almost synonymous with electric bidet seats these days, with 80% of Japanese households owning one. This statistic seems shocking at first, but once you consider the country’s culture and its emphasis around health and hygiene, it begins to make sense.

The Neorest on the other hand, is the big brother to the Washlet. It’s a complete toilet with a Washlet already built in, also known as an integrated bidet toilet.

TOTO Neorest

The Neorest line of products is the apex in design for toilet technology. The various Neorest models have some of the most sophisticated features of any toilet known to man.

Just about every intriguing Washlet feature you can think of is included in one of these complete bathroom packages. Heated seats, automatic opening and closing lids, deodorizers etc.

While the bidet component has a range of features on its own, the toilets themselves are not to be outdone. Some of the most advanced toilet features on the market are showcased in these integrated models.

For the purpose of this article, we’ll solely focus on the features of the Neorest 700H.

TOTO Neorest 700H Features

Since we’ve already briefly mentioned some of the Washlet-style features found in the TOTO 700H, we’ll start by talking about the ones unique to the toilet itself.

  • CEFIONTECT Glaze

TOTO Cefiontect

Cefiontect glaze is TOTO’s proprietary coating burned onto the standard glaze of the inside of the toilet bowl. Its ultra-smooth surface doesn’t allow for particulates to cling, leaving the bowl clean without having to use chemicals or additional water.

Cefiontect is extremely durable, hydrophilic and effective. By being hydrophilic, the Cefiontect glaze naturally attracts water. This results in a cleaner bowl that is constantly slippery and free from any waste sticking to it.

  • Tornado Flush

TOTO Tornado Flush

TOTO’s Tornado Flush technology uses centrifugal force and gravity to ensure the most powerful and efficient flush on the market. Two separate nozzles create this “cyclone of clean” that works harder with one flush than most toilets could with multiple.

Despite its highly effective, powerful flush, the natural force that’s utilized also makes for a surprisingly quiet experience.

  • EWATER+

TOTO EWATER+

Another interesting feature that TOTO utilizes is electrolyzed water, or what it calls EWATER+. By electrolyzing ordinary tap water, TOTO and other food manufacturers have found a powerful, yet safe way to clean without using harsh chemicals.

Electrolyzed water is more acidic and thus cleans better naturally. You’ll be happy to hear that EWATER+ is sprayed thoroughly inside and outside of the bidet spray wand and inside of the toilet bowl as well.

Not having to use toilet bowl cleaner will save money while also avoiding flushing harsh chemicals back into the water supply. A win win for everyone. We appreciate the lengths to which TOTO went to employ this innovative technology in the bathroom.

  • WONDER-WAVE

TOTO Wonder Wave

Wonder-Wave is another innovative technology found on the Neorest 700H. It works by using aerated water for its cleansing washes, which results in a more comfortable and thorough cleanse. Because the aerated water is more effective, less water is required, resulting in a more efficient use of resources.

The water produced in WONDER-WAVE technology is not the same as EWATER+. Although EWATER+ is totally safe, you won’t have to worry about any acidified water touching your intimate parts. Cleansing water is also instantly heated and never runs cold, a most sought after feature of Washlets and electric bidets in general.

WONDER-WAVE is used in six different wash modes. You can choose from:

    1. Rear cleansing - Focused clean mode for primary use
    2. Soft rear cleaning - A more gentle version for those with sensitivity
    3. Front cleaning - Comfortable, targeted cleansing in intimate areas
    4. Wide front cleaning - the wash is spread out over a wider area for an effective clean
    5. Oscillating cleaning - spray wand moves back and forth to cover a larger area
    6. Pulsating cleaning - soothing massage mode to help comfort sensitive areas

The wand position is easily controlled using the intuitive remote and you also get to choose from five different pressure settings, so the wash is VERY customizable.

  • Automatic Flush

The auto flush feature on the TOTO 700H is a nice addition. A built-in sensor detects how long you’ve been sitting and adjusts the amount of water needed. A manual flush option is always available in case the sensor wasn’t working properly or in case of a power outage.

It’s nice to know that no matter what, you’ll always be able to flush the toilet yourself, but having a robot do it for you is also an included luxury.

  • Automatic Deodorizer

No Neorest experience would be complete without a powerful automatic deodorizer. This feature occurs automatically inside the bowl by way of a targeted fan. Any unpleasant odor is removed immediately, rendering your bathroom a safe, happy place again.

  • Heated Seat

TOTO Heated Seat

Those familiar with TOTO Washlets would be horrified if they ever had to sit on a cold, uncaring toilet seat ever again.

The heated seat functions the same here as on other electric bidet toilet seats, except with the Neorest 700H, a motion sensor activates when someone is near and the seat is automatically heated in anticipation of your arrival.

This feature is unique to Neorest models and results in more energy efficiency. Typically, the seats on electric bidets that offer this feature are continuously warmed throughout the day, which can use more electricity than is needed.

  • Automatic Open/Close Lid

The same motion sensor that triggers the heating of your seat is also responsible for opening the lid of the toilet before you sit down and closing it after you leave. As soon as you’re within a few feet of your TOTO 700H, the motion sensor detects your presence and the lid opens as your seat begins to warm up.

This is one of a few crucial features that allows for a completely hands-off experience and sets Neorests apart from other smart bidet toilets.

  • Warm Air Dryer

Operating in tandem with an auto open/close lid (for a hands-off experience) is the warm air dryer. By allowing the user to dry themselves completely after washing, without having to reach for toilet paper, TOTO has created a bathroom experience that truly elevates your personal hygiene.

Users have found the dryer to be both very effective and comfortable.

TOTO Neorest 700H Design

The toilet bowl on the Neorest 700H is made from 100% vitreous china, unlike the Neorest AH and RH, where a combination of vitreous china and high quality plastic is used.

The seat is elongated and also wider than other Neorest models, offering a more comfortable sitting experience. This also allows for someone with wider girth and weight, some options.

It’s an efficient, high quality design that’s in line with all the other features and benefits of the product.

ADA and Universal Height Compliant

The Neorest 700H is both ADA compliant and Universal Height certified. Let’s break down what each of those terms means and see how it could benefit your situation.

TOTO’s classification of Universal Height is a seated height of 16.5” or taller, whereas most standard toilets have a seated height of 15-17” tall.

You can view the Neorest 700H measurements below:

TOTO Neorest 700H Measurements

Most Universal Height toilets you find on the market (from manufacturers other than TOTO), have a seated height between 17-19” tall. Confusing, we know.

In order to be considered ADA compliant, the toilet must have a seated height of at least 17” AND an automatic flush (or a manual flush that’s located on the side of the tank open to the rest of the bathroom).

Since the Neorest 700H has both an automatic flush mode and has a seated height of 17.25”, it’s considered both fully ADA compliant and Universal Height.

TOTO Neorest 700H VS 750H

TOTO Neorest 750H

The TOTO Neorest 700H and 750H are essentially the same unit except for two key differences:

  • ACTILIGHT®
  • Price.

The Neorest 750H is an upgraded version of the 700H and has a feature called ACTILIGHT® that the 700H does not.

TOTO ACTILIGHT

ACTILIGHT® is a technology that allows for the toilet to be completely self cleaning. It utilizes a zirconium coating that’s baked onto the bowl, along with ultraviolet light and EWATER+.

Like Cefiontect glaze, the special zirconium coating is hydrophilic, super durable and doesn’t allow for any waste particulates to cling to the bowl. This coating is automatically sprayed down with  EWATER+ and then hit with the UV light, destroying anything that could grow in the bowl.

While this technology is nothing short of amazing, it does come with a hefty price and the price difference between these two units is substantial. If you’re already in a position to pay top dollar for an advanced toilet, then maybe this feature will be  worth it to you.

Along with the announcement that the Neorest 700H was being discontinued, TOTO announced that the Neorest 750H was being discontinued as well.

TOTO Neorest NX1 VS TOTO 700H

TOTO Neorest NX1

To help you decide between the 700H and other TOTO Neorest models, we’ll compare the TOTO Neorest NX1 and the TOTO 700H.

Surprisingly enough, considering the difference in price, these two models share basically all of the same features listed and explained above. Cefiontect glaze, automatic open/close lids, deodorizers, WonderWash etc. Both toilets share them all.  The toilet bowls are also both made from 100% vitreous china.

toto neorest nx1 side view

The TOTO Neorest NX1 is also both ADA and Universal Height compliant, so there is no difference in qualification there.

Where they do differ is in some modifications of shared features and design. At first glance you’ll notice that the NX1 has a more sleek, rounded shape. It looks like a futuristic piece of pottery molded by the hands of some unknown, celestial force. It has a striking appearance that some may find more appealing.

TOTO Neorest NX1

The Neorest NX1 has a rimless design that provides some advantages as far as cleaning goes. It eliminates the amount of shadow areas for soils and microbes to accumulate and reduces splashing.

The seat of the NX1 is also more curved up in the back, providing a more stable and comfortable sitting experience.

Finally, while both models feature Tornado Flush, this feature is updated on the NX1 and provides a more powerful, effective flush that covers more areas of the bowl.

Differences between TOTO Neorest 700H and NX1 - Summary

  • NX1’s bowl is rimless
  • NX1’s Tornado Flush feature has updated technology
  • The NX1 seat is curved upwards and provides increased comfort
  • The overall design and look of the NX1 is more rounded and sleek

If you’re also wondering about the TOTO Neorest NX2, the main difference between that and the NX1 is ACTILIGHT technology feature and of course, price. The Neorest NX2 is the upgraded version of the NX1, just as the Neorest 750H is the upgraded version of the TOTO 700H.

TOTO Neorest 700H Cons

While the TOTO 700H is a widely popular integrated bidet toilet, there are some areas that customers have found could be improved on.

The number one complaint from customers involves some of the automation. Some find that the motion sensor that controls the automatic open feature is too sensitive. Some have said that any time someone enters the bathroom, the lid is opened and water automatically begins to pre-spray the bowl.

While it’s nice to know that this feature does work properly and you won't ever just be standing in front of the unit, waiting for the lid to open, it would be nice to turn this off. Some customers have said that even with the auto open and auto clean modes turned off, the features will continue to operate.

Another smaller complaint involves the remote control. Some have said that it can be hard to read at times since there is no backlighting and that it can be hard to program without accidentally pushing other buttons.

TOTO Neorest 700H Remote Control

The only other main con is the price, as this is one of the more expensive toilets on the market, even by TOTO’s standards. The good news here is that the price does seem to coincide with all of the advanced technology, research, design and materials that go into producing such an advanced product.

You will definitely be getting everything that you pay for and more. The amount of money saved on toilet paper, plus the potential value of health benefits received, is a reason we mention “and more.”

Hemorrhoids and anal fissures can be avoided as well as injuries related to falling in the bathroom, due to the advanced cleaning technology and ADA compliance.

TOTO Neorest 700H Troubleshooting

Just in case you ever run into any issues with this product, we’ve included the TOTO Neorest 700H manual here.

Recently, a customer called us and said that the bidet functions on their 700H had stopped working. We found that all they had to do was simply unplug and then plug back in the unit and the issue was resolved.
